CIMAR C21-I 15-05: Huevos de Exocoetidae (peces voladores) / Exocoetid eggs (flyingfishes)

En el reciente crucero CIMAR Islas, además de las recolecciones de material biológico con redes, también se recolectaron objetos flotantes a la deriva (plásticos). Cercano a la estación 64 A (26°36'30'' S, 106°16'00 W) en la transecta Isla de Pascua-Isla Salas y Gomez, se recolectó una boya en la cual había adherido una serie de huevos ornamentados con filamentos que sirve para adherirse unos con otros.

In the recent cruise CIMAR Islas, together with the collection of biological material by nets, floating objects (i.e, plastics) were also collected. Close to station 64 A (26°36'30'' S, 106°16'00 W) along the transect from Easter Island to Salas y Gomez Island, a floating bouy was collected, in which a clutch of eggs were found, ornamented by filaments that serve to attach them one on other.

Las características tanto del huevo como del embrión en desarrollo permite asegurar que son representantes de la familia Exocoetidae (peces voladores). Dentro de los representantes de esta familia citados para aguas cercanas a Isla de Pascua están Cheilopogon rapanouensis, C. spilonotopterus, Cypselurus simus y Exocoetus obtusirostris. Egg and embryo features make possible to identify them as members of the family Exocoetidae (flyingfishes). Among the species found in the area near Easter Island, it has been described the presence of Cheilopogon rapanouensis, C. spilonotopterus, Cypselurus simus and Exocoetus obtusirostris.
