Dibujos de larvas de peces recolectados cerca de Isla de Pascua / Drawings of fish larvae collected near Easter Island

Francisca Zavala-Muñoz, asistente de investigación del Laboratorio de Ictioplancton (LABITI) ha estado trabajando en la identificación de larvas de peces recolectadas alrededor y en las cercanías de Isla de Pascua, en el Océano Pacífico Sur. Entre el material recolectado, ha podido realizar algunos esquemas de las larvas, las que fueron revisadas por el Dr. Jeffrey Leis (University of Tasmania, Australia) durante el 40th Larval Fish Conference.

Research assistant Francisca Zavala-Muñoz from Laboratorio de Ictioplancton (LABITI) has been working on the identification of fish larvae collected around and near Easter Island, in the South Pacific Ocean. These drawings were checked by Dr. Jeffrey Leis (University of Tasmania, Australia) during the 40th Larval Fish Conference.

Una de las especies es un Aulopiforme, que ha sido asignado a Hime curtirostris / One of the species is an Aulopiforms, assigned to Hime curtirostris.
Merística/Meristics: 42 myomeres, 14 pectoral rays

Otro ejemplar dibujado por Francisca es una larva en postflexión de la familia Labridae, asignado al género Pseudolabrus. Abajo se incluye un dibujo realizado por Cristian Cortes de un ejemplar de Pseudolabrus recolectado en el Archipiélago de Juan Fernández.
Other individual drawed by Francisca is a postflexion larvae from family Labridae, assigned to Pseudolabrus. Another draw is included, made by Cristian Cortes, and corresponds to an individual collected in Juan Fernandez Archipelago.

Finalmente, se encontró un individuo que tiene las caracteristicas de un Pinguipedidae, y que fue asignado al género Parapercis por el Dr. Jeff Leis. Sin embargo, hasta la fecha no existen registros de ningún Pinguipedidae en Isla de Pascua, aunque si se encuentran presentes en las otras islas de la Polinesia Francesa.
Finally, an individual with characteristics of a Pinguipedidae was collected, and it was assigned to Parapercis genus by Dr. Jeff Leis. However, until now there is none register of the presence of any sandperch in Easter Island, although some species are found in other islands from French Polinesia.

Con dos exposiciones orales, el Laboraotorio de Ictioplancton (LABITI) participó en el 40th Larval Fish Conference 2016, realizado en Chesapeake Biological Laboratory, University of Maryland, ubicado en Solomons Island, Maryland, Estados Unidos, entre el 19 y 23 de junio de 2016.

Two oral presentations were done by the Laboratorio de Ictioplancton (LABITI) at the 40th Larval Fish Conference 2016, carried out at Chesapeake Biological Laboratory, University of Maryland, Solomons Island, Maryland, USA, during 19-23 June 2016.

Las presentaciones estuvieron a cargo de Mauricio F. Landaeta, quien expuso el trabajo "Trophic flexibility of larval Harpagifer antarcticus in shallow waters from South Shetland Islands, West Antarctica" en la sesion Marine Food Webs, y presentó los principales resultados del proyecto antártico INACH.

One presentation was done by Mauricio F. Landaeta, who expose the work "Trophic flexibility of larval Harpagifer antarcticus in shallow waters from South Shetland Islands, West Antarctica" in the Marine Food Webs session, showing the main results of an project funded by Instituto Antártico Chileno (INACH).

Valentina Bernal-Durán expuso el trabajo titulado "Ontogenetic allometry, integration and heterochrony in Gobiesocid clingfish larvae using geometric morphometrics" en la sesión Ontogeny de la conferencia.
